Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite (4 days per week)
Compensation: $140,000–$165,000 base salary + annual bonus + profit sharing

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established global organization in the energy industry, is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join its growing Information Security team.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to help shape and strengthen the organization's cybersecurity strategy while protecting critical IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. You'll work across infrastructure, cloud, network security, governance, and risk management while partnering with business leaders and technical teams to implement best-in-class security solutions.

This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence enterprise security initiatives and make a measurable impact on the organization's cybersecurity posture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage enterprise cybersecurity technologies across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Administer and optimize security platforms including firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), SIEM, CASB, and vulnerability management solutions.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives across IT, Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), IoT, cloud infrastructure, networking, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and data protection.
  • Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and risk evaluations for new technologies and enterprise initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise security standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Monitor security events and collaborate with internal teams to investigate and respond to potential threats.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Human Resources, Infrastructure, and Business teams to align cybersecurity initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Develop security metrics, executive reports, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support security awareness and cybersecurity training initiatives across the organization.
  • Mentor team members and promote cybersecurity best practices throughout the enterprise.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise cybersecurity engineering or information security.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing enterprise security technologies, including:
    • Firewalls
    • IPS
    • WAF
    • SIEM
    • EDR
    • DLP
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Experience securing both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud security within Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Experience performing threat modeling, security assessments, and risk analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or critical infrastructure security.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity governance, security architecture, and enterprise risk management.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • CISA
  • GIAC certifications
  • TOGAF
  • CIPT
  • Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
  • ISO 27001/27002
  • ITIL
  • GDPR
  • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
  • Lean understanding of privacy and compliance frameworks
