Position Overview

Partnership Employment is partnered with a well-established, internationally backed oil & gas company to fill a newly created Contracts Specialist position in their Houston office. With roughly five decades of history and a global parent organization, this is a stable, people-first company that takes real pride in how it treats its team. This is a newly created role, which means the right person has a rare opportunity to bring fresh eyes and help shape the position into what it should be.

Why You'll Want This Role

This is a company where people stay. Tenure runs deep, the environment is family-oriented, and leadership genuinely invests in its employees. A few of the things that make it a great place to land:

  • Free breakfast every Thursday
  • 14 paid holidays plus 2 additional holidays
  • Holiday parties and frequent employee events throughout the year
  • A steady, conservative culture where your work is valued and your time is respected

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Contracts Specialist to support the Contracts/Legal department by reviewing confidentiality agreements and supplier/subcontractor agreements to ensure conformance with Company guidelines. This role assists with a variety of contracts management tasks across the organization, ensuring compliance with company policy, client requirements, and risk management standards. You'll report directly to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, negotiation, and execution of confidentiality agreements in accordance with company policy and practice, client requirements, and any unusual business or logistical risks.
  • Support negotiation of Purchase Orders from Procurement; collaborate with Buyers to ensure appropriate project flow-downs and language are included, in conformance with company policy and practice, client requirements, and risk considerations.
  • Support the preparation, negotiation, and execution of services agreements (Engineering Services Agreements, Technical Services Agreements, Master Services Agreements) and corresponding work orders.
  • Assist with the creation of project flow-down provisions and documentation to enable contractual handover from bid/proposal to project execution, including training project teams as required.
  • Assist with corporate management of all executed contracts in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Attend proposal and project meetings to proactively identify and communicate contract and commercial risks.
  • Support the preparation and review of agreements relating to IT, HR, and BD departments, including independent consultant agreements, sponsorship/event agreements, leasing, and software/hardware agreements.
  • Support pre-qualification, RFQs, and compliance/client questionnaires; manage contract amendments, renewals, and terminations.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree required; Paralegal Certification preferred.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Offshore oil & gas experience is required.
  • Experience working for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor.
  • Upstream Oil & Gas knowledge across the following areas:
    • Business Law and/or Procurement (domestic and international)
    • Review, preparation, and negotiation of Confidentiality Agreements, Service Agreements, and Purchase Orders
    • General understanding of contract laws and principles
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft specialized contractual documentation with minimal guidance.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for customer interaction, cross-functional collaboration, and training delivery.
  • High attention to detail and strong priority management.
  • Foreign language skills are a plus.

Job Search Strategies for 2026: How to Get Hired in an AI-Driven Market

The job hunt no longer rewards effort. It rewards strategy. If you have applied to dozens of roles this year and heard nothing back, the problem probably is not you. The market itself has shifted. Recruiters now see more than 300 applications for a single opening, roughly triple what they saw five years ago. The […]

Is Your Compensation Package Actually Competitive in 2026?

The headline numbers look encouraging. Nominal wages rose 4.1% year-over-year through early 2026 while inflation ran at 2.4%, the first sustained period in several years where worker pay has technically outpaced rising prices. And yet 62% of employed Americans say their income has not kept up with their household expenses, according to a Bankrate survey […]
