Position Overview

HR Specialist, Payroll & Benefits

Partnership Employment is partnered with a well established global energy organization seeking an HR Specialist to support payroll and benefits administration for their international and expatriate employee population. This is a hybrid role based in West Houston, onsite four days per week.

The company has been in business for 50 years and has roughly 350 employees in its Houston office. Culture matters a great deal here. Tenure is heavy, the environment is family oriented, and they treat their people well. This is a strong next step for a payroll or benefits specialist who is ready to broaden into a fuller HR generalist scope and wants the room to shape the position over time.

What You'll Do

International Payroll Coordination

  • Capture and maintain payroll impacting data such as variable compensation and deductions in partnership with the company's paying agent
  • Process and review monthly timesheets and coordinate payments. Note that this role verifies and reviews rather than runs payroll end to end
  • Cross check paying agent invoices and provide monthly wage and expense reports to Accounting

Expatriate Benefits and Pension Administration

  • Handle enrollments, changes, transfers, and terminations
  • Reconcile medical, disability, and group life insurance statements and invoices for approval

Employee Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll and salary questions
  • Liaise with tax advisors and international counterparts to support personal income tax filings on a monthly and annual basis

HR Records and Reporting

  • Track attendance and leave in line with company policy
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding in the company's HRIS, including transfers and secondments
  • Prepare quarterly headcount reports covering employees and contractors
  • Support the HR Director and HR Business Partners on special projects

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Degree is strongly preferred
  • 2 to 5 years of HR experience, with oil and gas or energy industry background required. Offshore exposure is a plus
  • Hands on payroll and benefits experience, particularly with timesheets and benefits data
  • Strong Excel skills and general proficiency across MS Office. HRIS and payroll system experience is a plus
  • Analytical, numbers focused, and highly detail oriented
  • Polished, organized, and comfortable communicating with employees and external partners
  • Interest in a long term home. This organization values stability and consistency in a work history

The Team

You'll sit within a seven person HR department and work most closely with a team of three, including a Payroll Coordinator and an HR Business Partner. This position has no direct reports and reports into HR leadership.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: up to $65,000
  • Bonus: discretionary, up to 10 percent
  • Medical: PPO with three plan options
  • Retirement: 401k with a 3 percent match plus an additional 3 to 4 percent company contribution
  • Profit sharing
  • Time off: 14 paid holidays plus 2 additional holidays
  • Schedule: flexible start time, with 8 to 5, 7 to 4, or 9 to 6 all available
  • Extras: free breakfast every Thursday, holiday parties, and regular employee events

Job Search Strategies for 2026: How to Get Hired in an AI-Driven Market

The job hunt no longer rewards effort. It rewards strategy. If you have applied to dozens of roles this year and heard nothing back, the problem probably is not you. The market itself has shifted. Recruiters now see more than 300 applications for a single opening, roughly triple what they saw five years ago. The […]

Is Your Compensation Package Actually Competitive in 2026?

The headline numbers look encouraging. Nominal wages rose 4.1% year-over-year through early 2026 while inflation ran at 2.4%, the first sustained period in several years where worker pay has technically outpaced rising prices. And yet 62% of employed Americans say their income has not kept up with their household expenses, according to a Bankrate survey […]

Roughly 43% of organizations worldwide used AI for HR and recruiting tasks in 2025, up from just 26% the year before. Hiring teams cite real efficiency gains: faster resume screening, reduced time on scheduling, and broader reach across candidate pools. […]
