Senior Programmer Analyst I

Location: Houston, TX

Compensation: $90,000–$123,000 base salary + bonus + long-term incentives

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and financially stable energy company, is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst to join its Applications team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SQL professional who enjoys a blend of application support, database development, and project work in a collaborative, business-facing environment.

This role offers significant visibility across the organization and the opportunity to work directly with business stakeholders to support critical enterprise applications while helping modernize the company's technology platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance mission-critical business applications used across the organization.
  • Design, develop, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procedures, functions, and T-SQL scripts.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot SSIS packages and SQL-based integrations.
  • Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Participate in SQL Server upgrades, system enhancements, and application improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop reports, data extracts, and database solutions that improve business processes.
  • Ensure database performance, security, and data integrity across enterprise systems.
  • Document system changes, technical processes, and application support procedures.
  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable technology solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience developing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, views, triggers, and database optimization.
  • Experience developing and supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting enterprise business applications in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL Server 2019 or newer.
  • Experience participating in SQL Server migrations or upgrades.
  • Exposure to Power BI or other business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience supporting ERP or operational business systems.
  • Previous experience within the energy, oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial sectors is a plus but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Relevant professional experience will be strongly considered.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $90,000–$123,000
  • Short-Term Incentive (STI): 6%–8%
  • Long-Term Incentive (LTI) eligibility
  • Additional company performance bonus

Interview Process

  • 30-minute virtual interview
  • Final onsite interview with the Applications leadership team
